Benefits of Volunteering

Ever wondered why

people bother to spend time volunteering? After all, in this

busy world, few people

have any hours in the day

to spare. However, there are

many benefits to the volunteer

that go far beyond any pay

ever could.

Career:

Volunteers have the opportunity to attain transferable skills for a career, to build a resume, to try different skills, to exercise leadership and problem-solving, and to foster creativity.

Esteem:

Volunteers may gain confidence and self esteem, as well as fulfilling a need to achieve. Volunteers feel like they are making a contribution.

Understanding:

Through volunteering with an organization that serves the future leaders of the world, people can learn not only how to understand other people, but also will gain some insight into themselves.

Awareness:

Volunteers become more aware of the world around them, as they are forced to step outside the confines of their worlds and to recognize the needs, wants, and desires of other people.
