Sparks Elementary Leaders
Offered at: Holmes Elementary, Stevens Elementary, Logan Elementary and Longfellow Elementary
Sparks is an after school opportunity provided to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in their school. At Camp Fire, we believe every young person has a valuable spark that keeps them motivated. Some just have not identified this spark and others have not had the opportunity to develop it. This spark is the one thing that gets kids out of bed in the morning with a skip in their step and smile on their face. It is their motivator. Beyond identifying a spark, this after school program will help students realize that their brain is a constantly growing muscle that has the ability to change and accommodate any obstacle thrown their way. We work with them to understand how their brain works and how they can continue to grow through the rest of school and beyond! In addition, we will work with the kids in small groups to help them build and develop goals and goal management skills. To build goals students must first identify their goal, second pursue a variety of strategies and third shift gears in the face of challenges. We will make sure each student knows how to use their spark and a growth mindset to make their goals meaningful, realistic, and stretching!
Sparks utilizes a fitness curriculum designed by Focused Fitness which walks the kids through a solid understanding of the five components of fitness. Sparks also utilizes a program curriculum that helps kids identify and work through emotional frustrations and social skills through physical activity.
Sparks runs four days a week (Monday – Thursday) and focuses on developing every student’s ability to continue learning and developing their passions.
