Junior Leadership Program – Camp Sweyolakan @ Camp Sweyoloakan

This program has an application process – Application is on our website.  Application must be completed for further consideration for this program.

Upon receipt of ALL required items (application and a reference, your application will be reviewed and successful candidates will be notified of acceptance for the program. Should a candidate not be placed or not complete the application process prior to the program filling, the deposit will be returned or may be applied to another session.

The Junior Youth Leadership program is a three-week course completed during the first half of the summer season.  It focuses on leadership skills: communication; teamwork; setting goals and achieving them; decision making; problem solving; developing strong relationships with others; developing increased confidence; and conflict resolution. The leadership skills you gain will be used in all parts of life, including home, school, sports, youth groups, work, and community.

Following successful completion of the first year of the Youth Leadership program, participants return the following year as a Senior.

People, young and old, can relax and enjoy learning about themselves and the world around them in the beautiful setting of the lake, mountains and forests. Enjoy all the great activities on the water, cooking out over a campfire, archery and so much more.

The focus of the Senior Leadership program, in an environment of fun, is to develop skills that will make you a great camp counselor and a competent leader of children in any venue! Skills will include communicating with children, listening, teaching positive behavior and values, handling and understanding behavior and conflicts in positive ways, leading games and activities, and teaching outdoor skills. You will also learn about camp operation, the role and duties of camp administrator and staff. These skills will be valuable in any career that you choose!

Camp Sweyolakan Outbackers Day Camp lets you enjoy all the activities of traditional overnight camp but you go home at night. Relax and enjoy learning about yourself and the world around you!

  • Open to campers 1st through 6th grade in the fall.
  • The Outbacker session runs Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Children entering Kindergarten may qualify to attend. It is strongly recommended that the camper has attended a structured class setting prior to camp.
  • Enjoy the outdoors as you make the most of your summer days as you learn new skills and develop those you already have!
