DART-LO
DAY CAMP PHILOSOPHY
Dear Applicant,
Check out this rewarding experience that brings together the best things about summer- kids, outdoors, and camp. Employment at Camp Dart-Lo is more than a job. It is an adventure and an opportunity to positively impact kids today.
At Camp Fire USA, we believe an outdoor experience helps children and adults:
- have fun. Fun and safety are our top priorities! Fun is a goal in everything we experience at camp.
- work within a small group. Our staff gives campers individual attention and encouragement. Youth learn to express themselves in a safe, friendly environment of peers and positive adult role models.
- build self-esteem. We help campers gain independence and a positive attitude, while overcoming limits to learning new and exciting skills.
- make friends. Campers find a caring friend in each staff member. Every child and staff member experiences new friendships with peers that last long after summer has passed.
- learn firsthand about nature. Camp’s beautiful environment invites singing birds, whistling breezes, laughing children, and an occasional deer to stroll in the meadow. We help campers learn to appreciate the environment and take responsibility in protecting its future.
Camp’s success depends on quality staff. We seek men and women with diverse backgrounds and interest in the outdoors, children, and learning opportunities. Please read the enclosed application materials. Then if you feel you’ll be a valuable asset to Camp Dart-Lo, please apply!

ABOUT
DART-LO DAY CAMP
Camp Dart-Lo is located on the Little Spokane River about 10 miles north of downtown Spokane. Owned and operated by Camp Fire USA Inland Northwest Council, camp occupies 51 hilly, semi-wooded acres and has a state-of the-art outdoor pool complex.
CAMPERS
Camp is for boys and girls, grades K-9 and preschoolers, ages 3-5. Some campers are part of Camp Fire's club program; others are new to Camp Fire. Camp capacity is 200 youth per week. Campers attend one or more sessions and some attend for all summer. Two sessions provide opportunity for children with special needs. Staff will work closely with children with varying levels of physical and mental challenges. Campers are grouped by grade level and assigned to a shelter. Ages of camper groups vary each session. Preschool program structure varies slightly.
PROGRAM
The summer is divided into 8 sessions (a mix of one-week and two-week sessions). Campers enjoy progression-based programming in outdoor skills, swimming, and specialized activities. Traditional activities include crafts, hiking, creative drama, fishing, games, singing, archery, magic, cooking, teambuilding, challenge course, etc. Extra Spicy options include canoeing, overnights, horseback riding and excursions. Session themes enhance program. Campers enjoy daily bus rides to and from camp.

ACCREDITATION AND STANDARDS
Camp Dart-Lo is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). This accreditation is the most widely known and accepted standard to the industry and signifies compliance with rigorous standards in administration, site and facilities personnel, program, trips, transportation, health and safety.
Camp Dart-Lo also adheres to standards developed by the national Camp Fire USA organization as well as our local council Board of Directors.
